On October 12th, National Chengchi University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and its Addendum with Gyeongin National University of Education in Korea. This collaboration establishes an official sisterhood between the two universities, encompassing research collaboration, seminar organization, and faculty and student exchange. Future collaborations will initially focus on teaching and research aspects.
Gyeongin National University of Education, the largest education university in Korea, primarily focuses on elementary school teacher education. They proactively contacted NCCU expressing their interest in collaborating. Professor Byung-sun PARK, Head of the Korean Language Department, shared that the younger generation in Korea sees teaching as an ideal and stable profession, leading to an increase in scores for education universities. Gyeongin National University of Education, being part of the education system and one of the students' favorite national universities after SKY (Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University), was a preferred choice.
President Tsai-Yen Li of NCCU stated that NCCU is a crucial cradle for nurturing national talents. The College of Education, in particular, emphasizes the field of "educational administration" and annually trains many outstanding talents who enter the public sector or serve as principals in elementary and secondary schools. The university also has substantial capacity for teaching Chinese, and President Lee expressed hopes for more opportunities for cooperation and exchange with Gyeongin National University of Education. Additionally, President Lee emphasized that seeing Gyeongin National University of Education's continuous efforts in innovation and digital development, aligning with NCCU's future ideals, he looks forward to future exchanges between the two institutions.
President Kim Chang-won of Gyeongin National University of Education stated that both universities share the responsibility of being national universities, making the exchange between them highly significant. Gyeongin National University of Education has made significant progress in education, research, and national social responsibility. Moreover, many Korean students are interested in learning Chinese, indicating that there will be opportunities for mutual sharing and learning in these areas.
After the signing ceremony, the President's Council of Gyeongin National University of Education visited the affiliated experimental elementary school of NCCU (referred to as NCCU Experimental Elementary School) to observe fourth-grade native language teaching. Following the observation, they discussed future opportunities for exchange between the affiliated elementary schools of the two universities. It is planned that next year, NCCU Experimental Elementary School will lead a senior-grade delegation to visit Gyeongin National University of Education's affiliated elementary school for exchange visits. During the meeting, President Kim Chang-won made a direct call to the principal of Gyeongin National University of Education's affiliated elementary school, facilitating direct communication between both principals.
